Based in the heart of the London market, Pinpoint UK combines a local market presence with a global perspective. As part of the AM Specialty Insurance Group, our foundation is built on decades of specialty insurance experience.
Line agnostic by nature, we specialise in low-limit, non-Nat Cat commercial risks, avoiding high-severity catastrophe exposures in favor of stable, well-diversified portfolios. By prioritising underwriting profit over premium volume, we ensure that growth is sustainable and quality-driven. Darren Powell leads Pinpoint UK’s underwriting team as Chief Underwriting Officer. He is a highly experienced insurance professional with over 30 years in the industry. Darren has held senior underwriting and leadership roles at major insurers including RSA and Allied World, and notably served as the Active Underwriter for Lloyd’s Syndicate 2232. Throughout his career he has built profitable specialty portfolios, managed complex delegated authority programmes, and forged strong relationships with brokers across the market.
As Pinpoint UK’s CUO, Darren oversees our underwriting strategy and execution. His leadership ensures we maintain rigorous underwriting discipline while delivering exceptional service to our partners. Darren’s deep expertise in risk management and intimate knowledge of the London market set the tone for our team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation in everything we do.
